Junoon, Antaragni 2014 - The Biggest Eastern Band Competition

There's always been a choice every man faces in his time. He either chooses to fall into a deep slumber, merely existing, ceasing to live, or he chooses to find his passion, become it, and let it become him and experience the greatness that manifests through him, and for him. Junoon gives you that choice.

Judging Criteria

  1. Musical ability - vocal/instrumental ability, tonal quality, difficulty
  2. Originality - Innovation in the interpretation of works, presenting self-compositions.
  3. Stage presence - Fluidity, group communication, audience appeal.

Final Performance

  1. Bands will be given 25* minutes – amps on to amps off. A warning will be given at 21* minutes to wrap up the performance, sound will be turned off at 25* minutes.
  2. At least one song performed must be an Original Composition – which should include musical composition, musical arrangement and songwriting. However, improvisation on existing musical literature (a Hindustani bandish etc.) maybe allowed subject to the discretion of the judge(s) and the coordinators. In addition, Bands are expected to perform covers/ improvisations of any existing eastern** song(s) – language no bar. Emphasis will be on the innovation and fresh flavor added by the band.

Rules

  1. Band Size: At least three people and a maximum of eight people on the stage at any point of time.
  2. Instruments provided: A five piece drum set and one bass guitar.
  3. Required Instruments: At least three instruments are required (different guitars are counted separately).
  4. Lyrics Submission: Participating bands are required to submit two copies of the lyrics (and their English translation, if not in Hindi) of their Original Composition to the Coordinators before their performance.
  5. Judges’ decision is final and binding.
  6. All rules are subject to change at the discretion of the coordinators.
  7. Eastern includes any contemporary/non-contemporary Indian sound – including Bollywood, and Indian album songs. Pakistani album/film songs are allowed.

Prizes

  1. The winning band will be provided with a 50% discounted recording deal at Bodh Productions for a 5 song EP or for A Full Album.
  2. The top 3 bands of Junoon will be provided with discount vouchers worth Rs. 20000 from the Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music.
  3. The top 3 bands of Junoon will be provided with a free song upload profile at OKListen.com
  4. A part or the whole of the song of the winning band will be played on Radio Mirchi.
  5. The winning band will get his album featured on Saavn.
